The Vision
The dreamers behind this initiative bring many years of experience in complex environments, but do not believe they have church leadership all figured out. Leadership On the Way is founded on the belief that spiritual leadership is deeply contextual, continuously changing, and extremely challenging.
This is not a program that seeks to clone the leaders of the past; rather, Leadership On the Way seeks to offer creative space and supportive relationships for early-career leaders as they learn, innovate, and adapt in their unique settings.

We hope to encourage, equip, and support a new generation of leaders prepared to lead, create, and innovate the church into a vibrant future.
Lilly, Funding, and Your Limited Cost
Money often stands in the way of meaningful leadership development. For this reason, participants are only responsible for travel costs associated with the two program intensives each year.
All other costs for Leadership On the Way – including the facilitators, artists, lodging, meals, coaching, reading materials, and spiritual direction – are paid for by the generosity of the Lilly Foundation.
The program board will provide suggested ways to cover this cost if you would like their assistance.
